About
I am a musician who plays the cello and writes,
Whose love of music and creation helps to brighten the nights
I am lucky to have learned from some truly special teachers
Ole Akahoshi, Julia Lichten, and Peter Wiley helped me hone the cello’s subtle features
After years of carrying my cello up and down the subway steps of New York City
I moved to New Orleans where the live oaks, egrets and elephant ears are so very pretty
Here in Nola, my passion has grown by the day
And on my instruments I study music every which way
I play in a band called Semaj & The Blues Experiment
Through which my love of improvisation first started to ferment
And recently co-founded The Klezmerinas,
A Jewish girl band so fun we might all get subpoenas
Another group I love to play in is called Miss Morning,
Led by Amelia, whose sweet voice will make you cry (that’s a warning)
Last but not least, I plays in Versipel
A new music ensemble whose creaks and whispers will make your ears swell
I am obsessed with learning and teaching
And believe the farthest stars are always worth reaching
I teach cello and chamber music out of my home
